Deoghar (literal meaning 'the home of God/Goddess - देवघर, देवताओं का घर) is one of the 24 districts of Jharkhand. It is located in the north-eastern part of Jharkhand and lies in Santhal Pargana division.

Deoghar is also known as Baidyanath Dham. It is an important Hindu pilgrimage centre. As per Hindu mythology, Baidyanath Dham is one of the twelve Jyothirlingams in India.

In the Shravan month (July-August), devotees offer GangaJal (holy water of Ganges) from Sultanganj to the lingam at Baidyanath Dham. During this Shravan month, a very famous fair is held from Sultangant to Deoghar, known as Shravani Mela. Millions of devotees came to Deoghar during that period. This fair is also considered as longest (about 110 km) fair in the world.

Deoghar is considered as a health resort in near by states. There are several low range hills are located near to the town. Best time to visit this place is from October to March.
